Kids Group Programs

Kids Group Programs

Small group programs helping school-aged children build emotional skills and confidence.

Our kids group programs give children a supportive space to practise emotional skills, confidence and connection alongside peers.

We start by listening — really listening — to understand your needs and pace. From there, we shape a path that’s realistic, sustainable, and tailored to you. Every session is a safe space to explore, reflect, and grow without judgment.

What children practise

Groups can support emotion regulation, friendship skills, flexible thinking, confidence, communication and problem solving in a gentle, structured environment.

Children often grow when they can practise new skills with support, encouragement and a sense that they are not alone.

Confidence grows through practice

Confidence grows through practice

We keep groups small and supportive so children can participate at their own pace while still learning from others. A shared setting gives children opportunities to practise skills in the moment, with encouragement and room to try again when something feels unfamiliar.

Depending on the program, activities may focus on recognising feelings, managing frustration, joining in with others or building confidence in communication. Play, discussion and shared tasks can create opportunities to practise turn-taking, problem-solving and expressing needs in ways that make sense for the child.

A good match matters. The child’s age, interests, communication preferences and support needs all help guide whether a particular group is suitable. Some children may benefit from individual support first or alongside a group. We can talk with parents and carers about what they hope their child will gain and the support they may need to participate.

Families across Newcastle and the Hunter are welcome to enquire about current kids group programs. Tell us your child’s age and the areas you would like support with, and we can discuss available programs, suitability, dates and fees before you commit.
