We start by listening — really listening — to understand your needs and pace. From there, we shape a path that’s realistic, sustainable, and tailored to you. Every session is a safe space to explore, reflect, and grow without judgment.

What support can include
We support emotional regulation, social confidence, routines, independence, family relationships and coping strategies, always linking therapy goals back to the participant’s plan.

Capacity building works best when support feels practical, respectful and connected to the person’s real world.

Sessions are shaped around individual goals, with a focus on practical progress and skills that transfer into everyday life. We start with what matters to the participant: the activities they want to take part in, the challenges they encounter and the strengths they already bring.
Depending on the person’s disability-related needs, support may focus on recognising emotions, developing coping strategies, communicating needs or building confidence in social situations. Goals might involve managing changes in routine, participating more comfortably in the community or taking manageable steps towards greater independence.

We work at a pace that respects each person’s communication style and preferences. With consent, family members, carers or other supports may be involved to help make strategies useful beyond the appointment. Progress is considered in relation to the participant’s own goals and everyday functioning.
NDIS-funded psychology must meet the scheme’s requirements and relate to eligible disability supports; clinical treatment for mental health conditions is generally provided through the health system. For enquiries in Newcastle and the Hunter, let us know your goals and how your plan is managed so we can discuss service fit, availability and funding arrangements before booking.

You can contact Lyt Health directly for a privately funded appointment. To claim a Medicare rebate, you need an eligible referral in place before your session. This is usually a referral from your usual GP or MyMedicare practice under a Mental Health Treatment Plan. Direct referrals from a psychiatrist or paediatrician may also qualify. Ask our team which documents to provide when booking.
