Melanie Cox

Psychologist

Mel is a registered psychologist who brings a warm, down-to-earth, and genuine approach to therapy. She is known for creating a space where clients feel comfortable and able to be themselves without judgement. Mel understands that seeking support can feel confronting and focuses on building a strong, respectful therapeutic relationship.

She works with clients to understand what’s going on for them, make sense of patterns, and develop practical ways to manage challenges. Mel supports clients to move away from cycles of guilt, shame, and self-criticism, and build a more balanced and understanding relationship with themselves.

Mel works with a wide range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, stress, adjustment difficulties, and relationship challenges. She also has experience supporting clients with trauma, addiction and recovery, grief and loss, neurodivergence, domestic and family violence, and personality vulnerabilities. She has a particular interest in grief and addiction, and in working with more complex or long-standing patterns.

Her approach is person-centred and trauma-informed, integrating therapies such as CBT, Schema Therapy, ACT, Motivational Interviewing, and exposure-based approaches. She focuses on both insight and practical strategies, helping clients make meaningful changes in their day-to-day lives.

Mel is available to see clients under WorkCover, DVA, and EAP programs.

Outside of work, Mel is a mum who enjoys staying active, getting outdoors, camping, and music. She brings a sense of humour, warmth, and a real, down-to-earth presence into her sessions.
